So what have we been up to this year?

The Design Problem

What can we do with a vacant school building located in Alger Heights with a goal to improve the wellbeing of the neighbors and surrounding community?

This matters because...

The building has been vacant for 15 years and serves no benefit to the community. It also needs to be remediated as it contains asbestos and lead.

There is also a need for affordable housing and community areas.

Project Components

The site is inspired after the architect Ross Chapin's concept of pocket neighborhoods. The site components include townhomes, single family homes, and a community building. The project scope also includes the stormwater managmeent calculations and LEED certification requirements of the site.

Design Norms

CARING

We want to take into consideration neighborhood opinion and be able to contribute back to the community.

STEWARDSHIP

This refers back to our name, Seymour Sustainable Renewal, and our goal of being agents of renewal.

JUSTICE

This aligns with ICCF's goal of providing good quality, affordable housing that is safe and clean.
