Building Plans

We wanted to create a design that would fit the surrounding neighborhood. The architectural styles of the houses were modelled after the craftsman style, similar to those of the surrounding homes. Research was done to determine the typical lot sizes and layouts of the houses. Several iterations of the community building to fit the client's needs and possible needs of the target homeowners.

Inclusive design was also kept in mind while designing the buildings. All the housing units have one bedroom on the first floor to allow accessibility for limited mobility persons and 5-foot turn around space for wheelchairs. All entrances are no-step and all doorways are at least 32-inch-wide.

To help foster community, the community building was designed to contain a kitchenette with an open area for games, potlucks, and other community gatherings. The large room also has a garage door that opens up into the shared green space.
